Navigating the plethora of road trip destinations in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds can be daunting. To ease your journey, we've curated a helpful guide to one of Britain's premier regions for road adventures.
Discover enchanting towns and historic villages, each brimming with beauty and charm. The Killy is only 1.5 hours out of London and on the edge of both Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds’ best destinations so you’ll never run out of places to go during your stay with us.
Here’s a route we think you’ll love.
From The Killingworth Castle
From The Killy, take your pick: venture to Chipping Norton for a browse at Station Mill Antiques or a refreshing dip at the Lido. Alternatively, head to Diddly Squat Farm Shop for a unique Clarkson souvenir!
Daylesford Organic
Pop into Daylesford Organic where you can see how the other half do their weekly shop! With its farm-to-table ethos, it offers organic produce, artisanal foods, and wellness products. Explore the idyllic farm, indulge in farm-fresh cuisine at the café, or rejuvenate at the spa.
Stow on the Wold
Now head onto Stow on the Wold and visit the Market Square where you can soak up the atmosphere of a bustling Cotswolds town. Don’t miss the famous Church door every influencer in the world goes to snap – inspired Tolkiein’s tomes apparently!
Bourton on the Water
Set your sat nav to Bourton on the Water and meander along the picturesque River Windrush. Dip your toes in the water, feel like a giant at the Model Village and explore the Cotswold Motoring Museum before checking out the wildlife at Birdland Park and Gardens.
Upper & Lower Slaughter
These are known as the ‘rest and be thankful’ villages meaning they didn’t lose any locals in either WW1 or WW2. Explore idyllic stone cottages, quaint bridges, and meandering streams. Immerse yourself in the peaceful ambience, visit historic landmarks like the Old Mill, and savour the charm of these picturesque villages frozen in time.
Snowshill
Discover charming honey-coloured stone cottages, a medieval church, and scenic countryside vistas. If you have time, visit Snowshill Manor, home to an eclectic collection of treasures amassed by Charles Wade. Did you know that Snowshill Village features in the opening scene of one of Bridget Jones's Diary movies?
Broadway
Broadway is one of the Cotswolds’ most beautiful villages with shops, pubs and of course Broadway Tower which has a café and views across to Wales on a clear day.
Batsford Arboretum
Then drive over to check out the trees and plant shop at Batsford Arboretum or have a little look around Blockley if you just want more villages before heading through Moreton in Marsh.
Rollright Stones
Carry on to see the famous Rollright Standing Stones and on to picturesque Great and Little Tew villages – sometimes where you’ll spot celebs walking from nearby Soho Farmhouse.
Wootton
And then back to beloved Wootton for a cocktail on the patio and slap up meal.
This is one way to cover most of the North Cotswolds in one day. Or do it across two or three days and have more time to do locals walks and exploring.
